RELEASE: Let Go of What No Longer Serves You

The word for this month, June 2017 is RELEASE.

I have been writing an article on each word each month so far this year and we are now almost half way through!

A quick Google definition of Release gives:

1. ‘allow or enable to escape from confinement; set free’.

“the government announced that the prisoners would be released”

Synonyms: free, set free, let go, allow to leave, set/let/turn loose, let out, liberate, set at liberty, deliver, rescue, ransom, emancipate;

2. ‘allow (something) to move, act, or flow freely.’ “she released his arm and pushed him aside”;

3. ‘the action or process of releasing or being released’;

“a campaign by the prisoner’s mother resulted in his release”

4. ‘the action of making a film, recording, or other product available to the public’;

“the movie will be on release from Christmas”.

So you can release yourself by letting go of self-judgements and ‘shoulds’ – thus set yourself free. You can release others from your judgments of them – setting others free. You can allow yourself and others to move freely, to express freely, to be who you are and who they are. And you can release your creative expression out into the world.

Last night I had a dream: I was flying on the wing of an airplane high up in the sky.

There was a vast sky before me. It was just me and the blue, blue, sky. I could make out far below the Earth, but only through glimpses.

It was exhilarating, and terrifying at the same time. I had an impulse to jump off the wing and into the vast beyond, but at the same time I was terrified of what would happen.

Would I die? Or would I fly? Though some part of me knew it was a dream, I was still very afraid to take the leap.

Though some part of me knew it was a dream, I still didn’t jump. What would have happened if I did, I wonder?

Dreams are a great opportunity to test things out. If you are able to do this – know that you are in a dream and see what will happen there, then this is a great training ground for the subconscious.

As you release your wishes and desires, trust that they will go of their journey in the world and bring you back whatever you need.

As you release your old beliefs about what you were capable of, you allow yourself to grow into a whole new version of you. What is ‘me’ anyway, except a whole load of memories from the past, associated under a name, which is found in your passport and the registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages.

As you release your idea of yourself, you open to being fully present in this moment to experience, and to respond however you feel like. This can then be an unconditioned response and not one based on former ideas of ‘me’.

To be fully present for our life we need to be constantly letting go of what no longer serves us, so that we can freely move into a new future.

I release my limitations, I allow myself to expand and grow.

As I release my fears, I allow myself to celebrate life; I am here, alive today, able to breathe the fresh air, to run along the beach, to smell the forest after the rain.

  • I release confusion.
  • I release sadness.
  • I release anger.
  • I release pain.
  • I release all that no longer serves my higher purpose.
  • I release judgement of self and others.
  • I release all forms of criticism of self and others.
  • I release energies and emotions that are not mine.
  • I release all forms of attachment to the past, to others, to identities.

As you release, check in with how you are feeling? What changes? Do you feel lighter, free-er and more energised?
