Casina Settarte is a beautiful retreat centre nestled amongst the olive groves in the hills of Puglia in southern Italy. It is a place to connect with nature, with oneself and with others.
Casina Settarte translates as ‘House of the Seven Arts’, referring to the seven arts of music, poetry, dance, performing, architecture, sculpture, painting.
With a history of more than twenty years serving the community of Puglia, Italy and the international visitors, Casina Settarte hosts a wide variety of workshops in the fields of movement, dance, yoga, music, art, sustainable living and permaculture.
The founders of Casina Settarte, Germana Siciliani and Francesco Zita, were originally inspired to settle in the area more than twenty years ago, to attend regular yoga classes with their teacher who was at that time teaching yoga at the Bhole Baba ashram in Cisternino. Since then, Franco has studied Kung Fu and Tai Chi, before falling in love with Contact Improvisation. Germana is also passionate about Contact Improvisation, as well as yoga, art and philosophy.
In Casina Settarte all the offerings in terms of education aims to consider Nature as the first master.
We would like to invite you to share your dreams and develop projects to evolve humans to a point in which everybody will be responsible about the earth.
Biodiversity and creativity: improving our awareness that we are part of nature and all our actions is resonating with all the universe.

The main building for the workshops at Casina is the Bird House – the main studio that hosts the dance, yoga and movement groups, as well as an itinerant family of swallows who share the space with a nest in the roof.
Visiting guests are housed in either the Trullo or the Lamia (traditional Puglian stone houses) or a cave house carved into the rock, or the Fish House with a spectacular view across the rolling olive studded hills to the sea.
There is a communal kitchen which in summer is without walls and open, and in the cooler months it is enclosed with canvas sheeting. The Bird House is also open in the summer and protected with canvas sheeting in winter and spring.
Casina Settarte is available to host workshops in the fields of movement, yoga, dance, as well as creative pursuits and permaculture. There is a small vegetable garden on the land, as well as many fruit trees not to mention hundreds of olive trees.
Next to the veggie garden there is also a geo dome, which is a beautiful space for outside activities like a meditation, movement or a chanting circle.
