Beyoga, Paris, France
Beyoga studio in Paris has only been open since September 2010 but already has a following of dedicated Parisian yogis, plus a folder of press clippings that would be the envy of any Hollywood star / yogini.
A radical life change for Beyoga Founder
Founded by Marie, who made a radical life change into yoga teaching after twenty years in television production, Beyoga was opened in response to the lack of yoga studios in Paris. And at just a few steps away from Montaparnasse, its central location makes it eminently accessible to busy Parisians.
Many different Yoga Styles
With some twenty five teachers on their books, it is clear that this studio is very serious in its mission to offer a range of yoga styles to suit every different taste and practice level. A quick glance at their schedule is like a short history of yoga styles, with Iyenga, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Jivamukti, Anusara and Power Yoga accompanying innovative new pratices like Acro Yoga. The studio also caters for Mamans to be with prenatal classes, and stressed out high flyers who may want to start with Restorative, yin yoga styles.
Up to seven classes a day
Offering up to seven classes throughout the day, Beyoga has a time to suit the whole spectrum of Parisian lifestyles, from the early rising full time workers to freelancers with time during the day for yoga. While the majority of classes are in French, Beyoga also has some English instructed sessions as well as regular workshops with yoga luminaries such as David Swenson and David Brooks.
Beyoga is still a very new studio, and a welcome option for both serious yogis and curious beginners, in a city where the ancient Indian practice is still a mysterious contortionist technique from the east for many.
