If you are curious about doing a ten day Vipassana Silent Meditation retreat but you are a little afraid to jump right into the deep end, this is a good weekend retreat for you. With you in mind, I have designed this as a weekend intro to Vipassana meditation for you to have a taste of the amazing benefits of this precious practice.

I will be teaching you the four foundations of Mindfulness Meditation practices from the Theravada Buddhist tradition (the home of the Vipassana 10 Day Silent Retreats). We will also cover the four Divine Abidings (divine states), and the Four Noble Truths.
This retreat is an opportunity to seek out stillness (and silence) and learn some beautiful meditation and mindfulness tools. You’ll explore silence and meditation with your quiet introspection. We’ll guide you through meditations, talk about what meditation can actually be (it’s not just about being seated and drawing within!) including walking meditation, mindfulness activities and through yoga and nature connection.
This retreat will be like a mini Vipassana retreat. It will be silent, and we will be doing a lot of meditation practice (sitting, walking and standing) which will be supported by a morning yoga practice.
Sample Daily Program
- 6am: Morning sitting meditation
- 6:30: Yoga practice (Hatha yoga suitable for all levels)
- 7:30 am: Sitting and walking meditation
- 8.30am: Breakfast
- 9am – 10am: Talk on the Four Foundations of Mindfulness
- 10am: Sitting and standing meditation
- 10:45 am: Morning Detox Drink and Fresh Fruit & Free Time
- 11:30am: Guided Meditation
- 12:30 pm: Lunch and free time
- 1:30 pm – 2:30pm: Individual check-in session with Michelle for those interested
- 2:30 pm: Sitting meditation
- 3:30 pm: Walking meditation
- 4pm – 4:30: Break
- 4:30: Sitting meditation
- 5:15: Restorative Yoga practice
- 6:00 pm: Dinner
- 7:30 pm: Pali chanting on the teachings of Dhamma (the way or the truth)
VENUE: Happy Buddha Retreats
Happy Buddha is a beautiful yoga and meditation retreat centre nestled in the stunning Blue Mountains area of NSW, Australia. It is only a short 2 hour train ride from Sydney central station, if you want to arrive the relaxing way, or a 2 hour drive. Set in the Australian bush, the retreat is blessed with abundant trees, birds, and animal life, as well as stunning daily sunsets! For a break from retreat, there is a beautiful waterfall you can walk down to.
The accomodation for our 3-Night Inner Freedom Silent Retreat is in the retreat house, separate to the retreat hotel. The Happy Buddha House is a friendly communal space with newly renovated twin-share rooms. The bathrooms are clean, shared facilities. The kitchen is home-style and you’ll have a dedicated chef preparing your nourishing, vegetarian meals. Other communal areas include our lounge area with a toasty fire-place and a small dining room for meal time and for relaxing. Our DREAM studio, located next to the house, is our meditation and workshop space.
