Are you ready to take the next step in your personal growth? Are you interested in exploring meditation to encounter the deeper layers of your mind?

Do you know that there is more available for you in life if only you could get beyond the constant chatter of your mind?

If you are curious about doing a ten day Vipassana Silent Meditation retreat but you are a little afraid to jump right into the deep end, this is a good weekend retreat for you. With you in mind, I have designed this as a weekend intro to Vipassana meditation for you to have a taste of the amazing benefits of this precious practice.

If this is you then join me for this weekend devoted to Inner Freedom.

I will be teaching you the four foundations of Mindfulness Meditation practices from the Theravada Buddhist tradition (the home of the Vipassana 10 Day Silent Retreats). We will also cover the four Divine Abidings (divine states), and the Four Noble Truths.

As well there will be extra instruction in EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) which I find to be a complimentary practice for a meditation practice.

Vipassana – a word from the Pali language that was spoken at the time of the Buddha, 2500 years ago in India, translates as ‘Insight’. This style of meditation is dedicated to discovering and encountering the workings of the mind, emotions and physical body. It is a process of investigation, where you progressively learn different meditation techniques to help you to understand all of the processes that happen in order to create the reality of the life we live, and teach you how to become the master and not the slave of your mind.

Hosted at the beautiful beachside paradise that is Bali Sandat Guesthouse, this is the perfect environment for doing deep spiritual healing work.

  • 9:00 am: Breakfast

  • 10:30 – 11:30am: Sitting meditation
  • 11:30 – 12pm: Walking meditation
  • 12:30 Lunch + Free time
  • 2pm – 3pm: Walking meditation

  • 4:30 – 5pm: Discussion

Venue

Bali Sandat is a gorgeous gem in the quiet side of the island, North Bali. A boutique guesthouse, it offers guests a really intimate and truly Balinese experience. On arriving here, within minutes you feel like a part of the big extended Balinese family made up of the staff here.

Situated in the quiet region of North Bali, here we are far from the madding crowds of the touristy Bali. There is no surf here on the Northside, with just gentle waves lapping onto the shore, so this makes it perfect also for swimming and snorkelling. In the early evenings you will here songs wafting over from the local temples on the hills nearby, which are a beautiful accompaniment to the balmy Balinese evenings and give a feeling of otherwordly-ness – you are in a place where the local people have direct contact and relations with the spirit world and you can really feel this in Bali.

The meditation shala is right in front of the beach. The waves are one of our meditation objects!

Accommodation

Accomodation for this retreat can be at our venue Bali Sandat, or at the neighbour’s guesthouse, Taman Ayu. Booking for accomodation is seperate to booking for the retreat. Make sure you book in early as there are limited spaces for accommodation.

This retreat includes 3 nights accommodation in the price – Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday night.

All rooms at Bali Sandat are beautifully appointed with tiled or wood floors, bathrooms decorated with beach stones, and balconies with hammocks. Come with a friend and share a room, and if there are three of you there is a small house available with two double beds and room for a mattress on the floor.

 

 

Your Teacher

 

Michelle Taffe has done over 10,000 hours of meditation practice, and has had a daily sitting practice for the last 15 years. She has facilitated her own and been a co-facilitator of silent retreats in Australia and Thailand, and has completed three Vipassana retreats as a participant.

She is a registered Mindfulness teacher with Mindfulness Works Australia, and she also has a number of guided meditations on the Insight Timer App which have been downloaded thousands of times.

Also a qualified (RYT 200) yoga teacher, she is very passionate about the life changing benefits learning meditation as a compliment to a yoga practice and of the profound shifts that can take place once a regular meditation practice has been established.

Her meditation teachers include Steve and Rosemary Weissman formerly of Wat Kow Tham Buddhist Meditation Centre and Monastery in Thailand, Anthony Markwell of Indriya Retreat Dhamma and Meditation Centre (Thailand) and Acharya Premananda of Rudra Retreat Centre (Spain). Her main yoga teachers are KPJAYI authorised Greg and Tracy Cooper from the Ashtanga Yoga Centre of Melbourne, as well as Vijay Kumar, Ashtanga Yoga Acharya in Mysore, India.

The venue is really comfortable and relaxing. Up at sunrise, bed at sunset, so natural.  Spend free time relaxing in a hammock, going for a walk, snorkelling in search of fish, or having a massage.
